We are a COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS 
Assessment through observation and demonstration
Limited role of examinations

Every five minutes of learning should include at least    one minute of playtime
No busywork
Limited use of worksheets/individual work 

3. The Law of the Land Three simple rules...
Speak only when it is your turn
You may leave your seat when you have permission
Use proper English!
Penalties...
 First Offense: Pull Green Card
Second Offense: Pull Yellow Card
Third Offense: Pull Orange Card
Third Offense: Pull Red Card

4. Pulling Cards System Green Card Verbal Warning Yellow Card
5 Minute Time Out
Work on homework during this time alone
Orange Card
15 Minute Time Out
Write Sentences
Red Card
Sent to the Principal
Multiple Red Cards may result in Suspension 

5. For Good Behavior
Everyday a student has a "Green Day"
Puts a stick in his or her cup
At the end of the week, the student may cash in his or her sticks for rewards
Including candy, school supplies, and small toys
There are NO Class Punishments!  Each student is responsible for his or her own behavior, no one else's! 

6. Learning Plan FOCUS OF THE CLASS Become Excellent Readers
Including Stuart Little and Akimbo and the Lions
Become Mathematics Experts
Including multiplication  and division
Along side reading and math...
Science
Social Studies and Civics
Fine Arts
Health and Wellness
Cursive Handwriting

7. Homework! Used as a tool for solidifying knowledge NOT FOR BUSYWORK!!!
All homework should be...
Completed on time
Student's best work
Returned to parents each week
Students who do not turn in homework will stay in during recess to complete the homework 
Consistent late/missing homework will result in a call from me to you! 

8. Teacher/Parent Communication
CRITICAL TO YOUR CHILD'S SUCCESS!
I will send home a weekly newsletter with your child with information about Room 8 news
I will call every parent at least every month
Don't expect just negative calls
I will tell you at least one good thing your child is doing for every negative report

9. How can you be involved? Feel free to visit the classroom anytime!
Please give me at least 2 days notice
You may observe the classroom and help with classroom activities
Chaperone on Class Fieldtrips
We will visit the Art Institute and Aquarium
We will need your help on the bus!
Afterschool Tutoring
Every Tuesday and Thursday, I will have tutoring available to students who are interested
If you'd like to help tutor or provide snacks,    please let me know!
