1 Various scaphoid fractures
Various scaphoid fractures. (A) Angulated and displaced fracture of the scaphoid waist. A scaphoid fracture is considered unstable if the fragments are displaced by more than 1 mm, are angulated, or are associated with ligamentous instability (eg, scapholunate dissociation). (B) Distal pole fracture with intra-articular extension (white arrow). (C) Distal pole fracture (white arrow) seen on CT. (D) Fluid-sensitive MR image of a scaphoid waist fracture showing the fracture plane (white arrow), as well as bone marrow edema in the scaphoid, lunate, and hamate. (E) Old scaphoid fracture (white arrow), with nonunion and secondary osteoarthritis (black arrow). Avascular necrosis of the proximal fragment (*) manifests radiographically as collapse and increased sclerosis.
