7 You will also need to be able to verbally explain your picture/answer.
3 Mark AO1 Exam Questions In this unit the 3 mark AO1 questions are very similar. For example… Explain why some people believe that they can receive special revelations through sacred texts. (3 marks) Explain why some people claim that God can be known through nature. (3 marks) Explain what believers mean when they say that God has spoken to them through prayer. (3 marks) In your groups you are each going to be given a 3 mark AO1 exam question. Instead of writing your response you are going to create a picture to illustrate your answer. E.g. create an image of Bernadette to help you answer a question on visions. You will also need to be able to verbally explain your picture/answer. Emphasise that students need to be able to verbally explain their answer as well as take a picture when they show it to the class. Get students to the picture to you from their phone.

8 Inspiration from last year!
This is mainly for teachers but feel free to show students if they are confused! Worship – kneeling down to show respect to God. Sacred Texts – showing you are in God’s presence when reading a sacred text Enlightenment – Siddhartha Gautama meditating Visions – the vision of Bernadette

10 A Successful 3 Mark AO1 answer
Explain why some people think it is possible to know God through worship. (3 marks) Some people claim that God reveal himself through worship as it is an opening up of the heart and mind to God. This allows people to connect with God and feel his presence as well as learn more about his character, therefore strengthening their relationship with God. For example, Christians perform Holy Communion which allows Christians to know the forgiving nature of God as it reminds them of the sacrifice of Jesus. 1 mark for a simple point 2 marks for developing the point 3rd mark for a well developed point

11 A Successful 3 Mark AO1 answer
Explain why some people reject the idea that special revelations come from God. (3 marks) Some people say that special revelations such as dreams and visions do not come from God as they are just illusions and have been made up by humans. This is supported by Karl Marx who said that ‘religion is the opium of the people’ which means humans have made religion up as a way to comfort themselves and to keep the poor in their place. Therefore, if people claim to have had a vision they are either lying or hallucinating. 1 mark for a simple point 2 marks for developing the point 3rd mark for a well developed point
