1 Year 10 GCSE Geography Field Trip 2017 Overstrand Hall, North Norfolk

2 Why do we go on a fieldtrip?
Fieldwork is a compulsory part of the GCSE Geography course. Boys must study both physical and human environments. The trip will provide boys with valuable skills and data needed to complete the Paper 3: Geographical Applications component of their GCSE course, worth 30% of their overall grade. Fieldwork provides an opportunity for boys to have real-life experience of what they have been studying in the classroom, in areas which may be very different to those of their home region.

3 Where are we going?

4 How will we get there? Two separate trips
We will travel by coach. Each trip departs on the Monday at 9am and returns on Friday at approximately 3:30pm. Boys need to arrive on the Monday by 8:30am and meet outside the English block. They should be wearing comfortable travelling clothes. Trip 1: Monday 3rd – Friday 7th July 2017 Miss Edmonds’ set + Mr Grinham’s set + half of Mr Talbot’s set Trip 2: Monday 10th – Friday 14th July 2017 Mr Carrera’s sets + half of Mr Talbot’s set

5 What will we be doing? 3 different studies:
Tuesday: Coastal study at Salthouse, Weybourne, Sheringham and West Runton Wednesday: Urban study in Norwich Thursday: River study at Edgefield Woods, Oak Farm, Woodland, Meander and Glandford Ford

9 Where will we be staying?
Overstrand Hall – Kingswood Field Centre, a safe and secure site Rooms of up to 8 Shared shower and toilet facilities Full board – cooked breakfast, packed lunch and cooked evening meal Classroom and IT facilities Shop and social spaces

11 What do you need to bring?
All bedding is provided by the centre, but you will need to bring a towel. Warm layers and waterproofs are essential, as is suncream and a sunhat! Check the weather forecast before we leave. Sensible footwear e.g. walking boots Rucksack for during the day Pencil case, calculator and clip board (if you have one) A plastic water bottle Small amount of money: £20 – £30 should be enough Lunch for outward journey

12 Expectations & Behaviour
Normal school rules apply including e-safety policy, as well as centre rules Punctuality and organisation are key, as is enthusiasm Mobile phones and devices are brought at your own risk – no phones at meal times! You are representatives of WBGS
