2 Children In Poverty Learning Target
Research and educate others on how poverty affects children. Using this information, write an informational newsletter that is targeted at teens to educate them about this important topic.

8 Affects of Teen Pregnancies
*Only about one-third of teen mothers obtain a high school diploma. *Teens who become pregnant are less likely to attend college: Although teenage mothers today are more likely to finish high school or earn their GEDs than in the past, pregnant teens are less likely to attend college than teens who do not become pregnant

9 Affects of Teen Pregnancies on the Baby
The children of teenage mothers have lower birth weights, are more likely to perform poorly in school, and are at greater risk of abuse and neglect. The sons of teen mothers are 13 percent more likely to end up in prison while teen daughters are 22 percent more likely to become teen mothers themselves

Assignment: Research the problem of children living in poverty. Use the internet, articles or books, to investigate the impact this issue has and how it affects the development of children. Using the knowledge of Ages & Stages, analyze how each area of development (Physical, Intellectual, Social and Emotional) may be affected. Include statistics, examples, case studies or laws to explain your analysis.
