3 The Perfect Law Of Liberty
By Pastor Fee Soliven James 1:22-27 Wednesday Evening May 17, 2017

4 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

5  23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;

6 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

7  25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

8  26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless.

9  27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

10 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

11 Jeremiah 11:6 And the LORD said to me, "Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, 'Hear the words of this covenant and do them.

12 Matthew 7:24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock”

13 Why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' but not do what I say?
Luke 6:46 Why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' but not do what I say?

14 Luke 6:47 I will show you what he is like who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them:

15 Romans 2:13 “For it is not the hearers of the Law who are righteous before God, but it is the doers of the Law who will be declared righteous”

16 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;

17 Psalm 119:1-9 1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the LORD! 2 Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart! 3 They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways. 4 You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently.

18 5 Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes
5 Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes! 6 Then I would not be ashamed, When I look into all Your commandments. 7 I will praise You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments. 8 I will keep Your statutes; Oh, do not forsake me utterly! 9 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.

19 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

20  Proverbs 3:12 “For whom the LORD loves He reproves, Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.”

21 Psalm 94:12 “Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O LORD, And whom You teach out of Your law”

22 Lamentations 3:39 Why should any living mortal, or any man, Offer complaint in view of his sins?

23 Revelation 3:19 Those I love, I rebuke and discipline. Therefore be earnest and repent.

24 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

25 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

26 “If you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them”
John 13:17 “If you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them”

27 Romans 2:13 “For it is not the hearers of the Law who are righteous before God, but it is the doers of the Law who will be declared righteous.”

28 Romans 8:2 “For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”

29 26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless.

30 “Keep your tongue from evil And your lips from speaking deceit”
Psalm 34:13 “Keep your tongue from evil And your lips from speaking deceit”

31 Psalm 39:1 I said, "I will guard my ways That I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth as with a muzzle While the wicked are in my presence."

32 Psalm 141:3 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.

33 27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

34 Isaiah 1:16-17 16 "Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, 17 Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow.

35 1 Corinthians 5:8 “Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”

36 Romans 2:13 “For it is not the hearers of the Law who are righteous before God, but it is the doers of the Law who will be declared righteous.”

37 (Living Bible Translation)
1 Timothy 5:3-7 (Living Bible Translation) 3 The church should take loving care of women whose husbands have died if they don't have anyone else to help them. 4 But if they have children or grandchildren, these are the ones who should take the responsibility, for kindness should begin at home, supporting needy parents. This is something that pleases God very much.

38 5 The church should care for widows who are poor and alone in the world if they are looking to God for his help and spending much time in prayer; 6 but not if they are spending their time running around gossiping, seeking only pleasure and thus ruining their souls. 7 This should be your church rule
