Tammy Leaseburg, Principal August 26, 2016 Issue 1 Upcoming Events: Sept. 2nd – 2 hour early dismissal for CE Sept. 5th – No School Labor Day Sept. 7th – Fundraiser Assembly Sept. 12th – Bandland Demo for 5th Grade Sept. 13th – PTO Meeting/LSIC meeting at 2:45pm Sept. 14th – Bandland Demo and Rental Night at Liberty for 5th Grade Band Sept. 16th – Progress Reports go home Sept. 20th – Fall Picture Day Sept. 21st – SAT Meetings NO SCHOOL MONDAY , SEPTEMBER 5TH DUE TO LABOR DAY EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY ATTENDANCE MATTERS Congratulations to the classrooms of Mrs. Rollyson, Mrs. Travis and Mrs. Hostutler with perfect attendance and no tardies the week of August 16-19! Way to go!!! Cafeteria News The cooks are still offering a sandwich choice instead of entrée. Also, just a reminder that breakfast and lunch are free to all students. There will not be a sandwich choice on 2 or 3 hour delays. NOTICE TO PARENTS: Right to Review Teacher Qualifications To: ALL PARENTS From: Harrison County Schools Date: August 24, 2016 As a parent of a student at Adamston, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers who instruct your child. Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child’s classroom teachers and requires us to give you this information in a timely manner if you ask for it. Specifically, you have the right to ask for the following information about each of your child’s classroom teachers: Whether West Virginia Department of Education has licensed or qualified the teacher for the grades and subjects he or she teaches. Whether West Virginia Department of Education has decided that the teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances. The teacher’s college major; whether the teacher has any advanced degrees and, if so, the subject of the degrees. Whether any teachers’ aides or similar paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if they do, their qualifications. If you would like to receive any of this information, please call Lola J. Brown at (304) AFTER SCHOOL DETENTION After school detention will be utilized this year. It will occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45pm-3:45pm and begin Sept. 1st. If your child qualifies, information will be sent home and need returned regarding guardian pick up. PTO Membership PTO will be accepting membership from August 26th thru October 20th. The classroom with the highest participation will win a surprise! PTO News Adamston folder - $1.00 Smencils - $1.00 Snacks You are more than welcome to provide a healthy snack for your child on any day. Below are the options provided by Adamston Elementary. Fresh Fruit or vegetable options will be available to your child on the following days: Pre-K – 2nd grade – Monday through Wednesday and Friday 3rd – 5th grades – Monday through Thursday Snack Schedule Juice and water are .50 cents Snacks are .50 cents Sept. 1st - Pre-k thru 2nd grades Sept. 2nd – 3rd thru 5th grades Sept. 8th – Pre-K thru 2nd grades Sept. 9th – 3rd thru 5th grades
