2. The school’s code of conduct policy
(behaviour policy ) is being created to benefit students, parents, teachers, support staff and school administration officers at St Joseph’s School, Tara.
The purpose is to teach, model and encourage expectations and procedures that promote responsible, respectful and safe behaviour.

At St Joseph’s, there are three basic expectations and procedures that all staff
and students are expected to demonstrate.

6. The St Joseph’s Award
The St Joseph’s Award is an evidence based program promoted as a
whole-school positive behaviour support intervention plan. The intention is to reward students displaying expected behaviour. This positive behaviour intervention is intended to change the social climate of the entire school.
Each St Joseph’s Award is presented to a student displaying outstanding social behaviour.
Examples include;
Helping others on a most regular basis
Consistent following of school rules
Seeing a need and doing something about it

7. The Incentive Awards
Students obtain St Joseph’s Award tokens for their display of most appropriate behaviour . Tokens are collected by students and secured to their Awards Card, which will be displayed in a prominent position within the classroom or hallway.
Students work their way through the three levels;
Bronze
Silver
Gold
Fifteen tokens are needed to complete each level

8. Once a student completes their level they will receive recognition in the following form.
Once a student has completed the Bronze Award they would receive;
Assemble certificate, ice cream, stationery gift pack, newsletter recognition and a posted letter home celebrating the achievement.
Once a student has completed the Silver Award they would receive;
Assembly certificate, lunch voucher, book prize, newsletter recognition, posted letter home celebrating the achievement.
Once a student completes the Gold Award they would receive :
Assembly certificate with parents invited to the assembly, picnic lunch involving a day trip , photo in frame in school hall of achievement, newsletter recognition.

9. Decreasing Inappropriate Behaviour
Teachers within the classroom and on playground duty complete an inappropriate behaviour record sheet if a students behaviour is not acceptable and against school rules. Teachers need to justify the issue of a recording at a Code of conduct meeting.
Students are informed of the recording and its consequences.
On the second occurrence the students are told that one more recording will result in being placed on a Behaviour Plan, when parents will be informed and the lose of ALL privileges while on the Behaviour Monitoring Card.
Students can be placed on the BMC for three or five days depending on the incident .

10. The Behaviour Monitoring Card
If a student is placed on a BMC, it is their responsibility to have their card registered by the classroom teacher or playground duty teacher at the conclusion of each session. Students needed to secure Satisfactory registrations for each session. If a student registers two or more Unsatisfactory registrations they will be required to restart the process and a school- family intervention meeting will be held.
NB. Parents are notified by letter when their child is placed on a BMC.

11. While on a BMC
Students will
loose all playground rights
Become excluded from ALL extracurricular activities
Spend their recess and lunch breaks in isolation room
Loose there responsibilities as team leaders ( if applicable )
Be excluded from excursions, including sports events and shows.
