1 Cause Genre Inquiry Day 3
Honors MYP Wednesday, March 8, 2017

2 Objective, Agenda, & Homework
Objective: Students will inquire into purpose and audience to determine the required elements of a variety of genres. Agenda: Latin Roots Midterm Recap: Cause Genres Inquiry, Days 1 & 2: Blogs, Essays, Newspaper, & Magazine Inquiry: Interviews and 2-Voice Poems Homework: None!

3 If you were absent yesterday: Hypothetical Notes Questions
This is one paragraph answering all the questions. What genre is this? What is the purpose and audience of this genre, and what type of information are you trying to convey? Why did you include this genre (not “my teacher told me to”)? Justify why you chose this genre instead of the other options (Think about the purpose, audience, type of information, format, style, and tone of each.). Explain your stylistic choices as a writer and your engagement with the creative process. Is the genre factual or fictional or both? Explain. Which sources did you use to create the genre? Be sure to include both authors and titles. Be sure to tell which facts came from each source and how you used the source, and be specific about quotations, statistics, etc.

4 Multi-Genre Project Genre Options
In addition to you script, your multi-genre project will have six or more genres from the list below. You must have one background genre (either an infographic or a brochure). This is due Friday, March 3. Next week, we will look at the genres in causes. The week after, you will complete one genre from the causes list (due roughly Friday, March 17). If time allows, you can do an additional genre from EITHER background or causes. Before spring break, we will look at genres in effects and solutions. After spring break (dates TBD), you will complete two genres, one of which will be about effects, and one of which will be about the solution.
