Peak State: With a partner, discuss: Do you believe: 1. You can change how intelligent you are? OR 2. You are born with a certain amount of intelligence and can’t do much to change it?

What’d you come up with? How many feel you are born with your intelligence? Can change it? Today, we are going to talk about people who have a growth vs. a fixed mindset.

Mindsets can be changed Which one is better for you? Start to catch yourself if you are passing up a chance for learning, if you feel labeled after a failure, feel discouraged if something is hard. Next time something is hard, put yourself in a growth mindset: Picture your brain forming new connections as you meet the challenge and learn

10 Visualize Is there something in your past that labeled you (a grade, a test score, being rejected)? Focus on that thing, feel the emotions, and put yourself in a growth mindset: Know it doesn’t define you and ask: What can I learn from that experience/ How can I use it as a basis for growth? Next time you feel challenged in a class, put yourself in a growth mindset- think about learning, confronting the obstacles, your neurons wiring together and don’t give up! Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but were afraid you weren’t good at it and feared you didn’t know how to do it? Be in a Growth mindset and Make a plan to do it?

Being in a Growth mindset takes practice, let’s read the article they are talking about in the clip As you are reading, write down the key points (use SQ3R) we’ll do the recite and review. How can you grow your intelligence? What is the key to growing the brain? What is the truth about smart and dumb? What can you do to get smarter? Look at Survey again, has your mindset changed? If you know this, you can do anything!!!!!!!!
