1. Pulmonary artery stent infection
Pulmonary artery stent infection. An example of a 23-year-old female patient with a history of cystic fibrosis and status post bilateral lung transplant, 5 years prior, was referred to an 18F-FDG PET scan to evaluate for positive blood cultures, a negative transesophageal echocardiogram, and persistent fevers with a clinical suspicion of infection of pulmonary artery stent. Images in panel A (before therapy) show focal intense 18F-FDG uptake (SUVmax 10.4) in the region of the pulmonary artery stent (red arrows), while images in panel B (4 months after successful antibiotic therapy) show a persistent small focus of 18F-FDG uptake (SUVmax 5.9) in the region of the pulmonary artery stent, but is significantly improved compared to baseline.
