1 ANNAPOLIS SWIM CLUB VOLUNTEERING

2 WELCOME!!! Welcome to the Annapolis Swim Club swim season. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. A BIG ASC welcome to all our new families and swimmers; and to all our returning swimmers and families - WELCOME BACK!!! There will be parent information meetings to help everyone (new and returning families) get the hang of all this new information. There will be a meeting for those families that practice at the RIVA pool on Thursday September 22, at 5:45 PM. A parent information meeting will be held for those families practicing at the North Arundel pool on Tuesday September 20th at 5:00 PM. All ASC families are welcome to attend either or both meetings. First and foremost, I cannot stress enough how important it is to have parent involvement for our ASC hosted meets. Without you all, we cannot run the meets.

3 ASC HOSTED MEETS This year we have the following ASC hosted Meets during the 2016-2017 season:
1) Freestyle Meet (October 7-9): Each family with a swimmer age 11 or older are required to work ONE SESSION (regardless of swimmers participation. If you are a parent of a swimmer 10 and under, and they ARE swimming in this meet, than you ARE required to volunteer. If you have a 10 and under swimmer and they are NOT swimming in this meet, then you do NOT have to volunteer.  2) Holiday Meet (December 9-11) - All families will need to volunteer in some capacity for this meet. A family with a swimmer participating in the meet will be required to work TWO SESSIONS. If your swimmer is not participating, you will be required to volunteer to work ONE SESSION. 3) Senior Meet (February 4-5) - (Swimmers that are 8 years old and younger, will not be swimming in this meet) ; However, Each family will be required to work TWO SESSIONS 4) ASC Independence Meet June  All families are required to volunteer for ONE session, regardless of swimmers participation.

4 What does it mean to be the HOST Team?
All ASC families are required to volunteer to run ASC HOSTED meets. The volunteer signup for these meets will be posted on the ASC home page and will be available for parents to sign up 2-3 weeks prior to the start date of the meet. The number of available volunteer positions during a single session are far less then the number of parents that want to volunteer for a particular session; therefore, it is not a guarantee that you will be able to volunteer during the same session that your swimmers is swimming. ASC families are not required to volunteer for meets that ASC does not host; i.e. CBAC Fall Warm Up.

5 MEET VOLUNTEER SIGN UP How do I sign up to volunteer?
Go to the ASC website Find the tab that says “JOB SIGNUP” Click on the “JOB SIGNUP” tab

6 Find the “Job Signup” Tab.

7 Pay attention to the session you are signing up to work!!!
Find the volunteer job/session that you would like to work. Find a job slot that is open. Job slots that are available, are blank. The volunteer signup is 1st come, 1st served. If the session that you want to volunteer for is full, then you will need to chose a different session.

8 Find a blank volunteer slot, and click on the little box

9 Type your name and phone # in the blank slot.

10 CLICK “SIGNUP”.

11 YOUR ALL SIGNED UP!!

12 No switching between sessions:
If you are signed up for a Saturday AM session, that is the session you are required to volunteer. If you show up at a different session (other than the one you signed up for) you will not be allowed to sign in (your name will not be listed on the sign up for that session) and you will not be credited for volunteering. You will, however, be fined for not showing up for the session you signed up for. Please review your volunteer session prior to the meet. If you are unsure of your volunteer session, please feel free to me.

13 Where do I sign in when I get to the Meet?
There is a volunteer "SIGN IN AND SIGN OUT". So, when it comes time for you to "volunteer" for the session you signed up for, you will need to locate the volunteer table and ask to "sign in" for your session.  Upon completion of the session, you will need to "SIGN OUT". The volunteer sign in/sign out is located at the end of the concession table.

14 How long do I need to say for my volunteer session
How long do I need to say for my volunteer session? The website said I only have to work till 12? The end of the session is when the last swimmer of the last heat of the last event touches the wall. Timelines for meets are an ESTIMATE. Sometimes sessions finish early, sometimes sessions run later than the time posted on the website. Each volunteer is required to stay at their volunteer post until the end of their session. The “Sign Out” is not available until the end of the session. If a volunteer leaves before the session is over, they will be fined.

15 PLEASE NOTE: There is a "SIGN UP DEADLINE" for all ASC hosted Meets
PLEASE NOTE: There is a "SIGN UP DEADLINE" for all ASC hosted Meets. Once the deadline passes, you will no longer be able to sign up to volunteer.  NO EXCEPTIONS. The deadline for volunteer sign up is at midnight the Wednesday before the opening day of the meet.

16 Where do I find the signup deadline?

17 Sign up – Don’t Wait !!  I will say this....DON'T WAIT TO SIGN UP.  The signup fills up REALLY fast, especially those cushy runner jobs. it is not a guarantee that you will be able to volunteer during the same session that your swimmers is swimming. Remember, once the signup deadline has passed, that's it. The signup is CLOSED!! If you see a bold RED border at the top and bottom of the volunteer signup that says "JOB SIGN UP HAS PASSED" , you're too late. You can switch your signup at any time “while the signup is still open”. As long as you switch before the deadline, you'll be ok.

18 Job sign up has passed

19 What do I do if I miss the signup deadline?
If you forget to sign up to volunteer (volunteer deadline has passed) please send me an at:

20 FINES Fines: Not the most fun thing to discuss.  The swim season policy for fining is as follows: Volunteer Fine: 1st  infraction $75/session not worked, 2nd infraction $150/session not worked (Fines are doubled per session) 3rd infraction $225/session not worked. (Fines are tripled per session) example: if you are required to work the Freestyle meet and you do not, your account will be charged $75, if you do not have a swimmer in the Holiday meet and you do not work, this would be considered your 2nd infraction and your account will be charged $150. Ok, well that's ugly, let's move on.
