Student Success Center Goals Support the Colleges as they Reform Developmental Education Build Institutional Capacity for Data-Driven Decision-Making Leverage the evidence-based practices that have emerged from the various initiatives currently and formerly in place in Ohio’s community colleges

Accomplishments Secured grant funding to sustain core Student Success Center activities through 2018. Launched Student Success Leadership Institute (SSLI) with 23 participating colleges. Developed new partnership with Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation. Received AmeriCorps competitive grant. Built staff capacity with Chief Academic Officer, Grants Coordinator, and AmeriCorps Program Coordinator positions.

6 Gates Grant: Completion by Design (CbD) Policy and Scaling
Projects Supported Guided pathways reform efforts through the Student Success Leadership Institute (SSLI). Integration of evidence-based student success initiatives in the OACC advocacy agenda. Facilitation of the performance-based funding consultation and ongoing SSI data analysis conducted with leadership from HCM Strategists. Efforts to build institutional research (IR) capacity through data coaching and the OACC’s standing Research and Evaluation Committee. State higher education policy review and collaboration with ODHE including the 2+2 transfer initiative. Establishment of the OACC Chief Academic Officer.

Key Features of SSLI Funded by Gates and Great Lakes Participation by all 23 colleges: Teams of 8-10 from 20 participating colleges Coaching provided by leaders from Ohio’s 3 CbD college Cohort-based, long-term engagement of campus student success teams Six in-person institutes in 2016 with presentations from state and national experts Facilitated exchange of ideas with peer colleges and colleagues Aligned with campus completion plan updates due to ODHE in June of 2016 Focused on guided pathways and CbD principles within the performance-based funding environment Technical assistance (TA) fund and data coaching to engage broader groups on campus Increased awareness and integration of Ohio’s statewide student success and completion initiatives.

Co-led by Academic Affairs and Registration / Records SSLI team members represented faculty and staff Utilize current plan as foundation for new plan; do not recreate the wheel Create objectives and strategies independently of data Campus meetings to review components systematically Supported discussion with information gained from SSLI
