9 How much do grades matter?
Merit based scholarships are based on an unweighted G.P.A. and rank. Typically you must rank between the top 2% & 5% of your class. Your ACT or SAT test scores can also earn you Merit based scholarships. The higher your scores, the more money you will get! Keep your grades up until the end, this last year does count!

10 To take the ACT or SAT Come to the Career Center and see if you are eligible for a test fee waiver and for information about upcoming test dates.

11 Stay on top of college deadlines
Most college admission applications are due by mid-February. Follow up with the colleges to make sure they received your paperwork. Follow up with your high school to be sure they have submitted your transcript. Gather financial aid information and apply for scholarships. Submit financial aid applications by February to enhance your chances of receiving priority financial aid. Do your FAFSA by February 14th! You should begin receiving acceptance letters and financial aid offers by April. By May, you should make a decision on the college you want to attend. Once you choose a college, you may be asked for a nonrefundable deposit. In May, take AP® or IB exams for potential college course credit.
