7 Timetable: PE on a Wednesday and Friday.
5 Maths and 5 English lessons a week at least. Two discrete lessons are taught to focus on key skill of number, one on investigative work and the remaining two are topic/learning journey based. Frequent phonics sessions

8 Continued…. Science, Art/ DT ; music; history, geography, computing, PSHE, R.E; French are either taught weekly or in blocks and generally link to overarching topic themes where appropriate. Additional daily English workshop and an additional Big Maths skills session a week.

9 English Workshop- How does it work?
5 Groups. Carousel structure of 5 activities – to include : Guided reading Related follow up activity Grammar activity – target related Spellings/Handwriting Word work – vocabulary expansion and dictionary skills.

10 Homework Spellings are set every Wednesday and the spelling test takes place the following week. 15 minutes reading daily. Maths homework is set every Friday and due back the following Thursday. It will also include additional Mathletics. English homework is set every Tuesday and is due back by the following Monday. Power gems are given for handing it in early! Topic is set instead of, not in addition to, regular homework. Homework diaries – a transitional tool for this year. (To replace reading record)

12 Planned Trips/Activities
Seven Sisters, River Cuckmere Trip. Roman workshop in school including theatre performance. Anglo Saxon workshop or artefact talk in school. World War II related trip. This is linked to Year 4 Kip in the Hall. It may be Henley Fort, The Imperial War Museum or H.M.S Belfast.

13 Problem? What to do (in-person, note, phone-call, appointment) When?
(after-school, we will try to get back to you as soon as possible) If you write a note in your child’s homework diary please ask them to show it to us!
