3 Dual Credit Overview Dual Credit is a process by which a high school student enrolls in a college course and receives academic credit for the course from both the college and the high school. Benefits: receive high school and college credit for courses with a “C” or better qualify as an advanced measure save on tuition and fees over time have access to a full range of TCC services experience college culture while still in high school *See page 3 and 4 of the EMS ISD Dual Credit Handbook for more information.

4 Dual Credit Eligibility
Dual Credit through TCC is limited to high school students in grades 11 and 12. Dual Credit students: must meet TSI eligibility requirements for college-level coursework may not be enrolled in more than two dual credit courses per term (6 credit hours per semester) must earn a “C” or higher in each course attempted to remain eligible for Dual Credit coursework. If a student receives a “D” or “F” in a course, the student is no longer eligible for Dual Credit courses within the subject area of failure throughout high school. *See page 4 of the EMS ISD Dual Credit Handbook for more information.

5 Dual Credit Cost Tuition is $59 per credit hour. A 3 credit hour course will cost $ If you plan on taking one course, ex: English III, the cost will be $ (ENGL ENGL 1302). 10 Courses taken on the TCC Campus (Concurrent Enrollment)
Courses for college credit can be taken on the TCC campus outside a student’s regular school day (9:05 am – 4:20 pm). The student is responsible for registering for these courses. Please note the differences in enrollment processes in the EMS ISD Dual Credit Handbook. TCC course offerings can be found on the TCC Web Advisor website. Online classes could be available – Online Readiness Assessment required prior to registration Grades are submitted via Official TCC Transcript to home campus by request of the student. *See page 5 of the EMS ISD Dual Credit Handbook for more information.

11 Dual Credit Important Dates
Action Jan 23-Feb 10, 2017 Select Dual Credit through Career Cruising when registering for courses and complete Student Information Online Form to designate interest in Dual Credit. February 15, 2017 EMS ISD Dual Credit Agreement Form with completed steps due to the campus CCRS. Week of February 27th TSI home campus during the school day. March 20, 2017 ALL STEPS OF THE DUAL CREDIT PROCESS MUST BE COMPLETE, INCLUDING TSI TESTING. Week of March 20, 2017 CCRS will return documents to students wanting to take dual credit courses at a TCC campus during the summer. Students need to know what section they want to take to get approval from CCRS. After this date, the CCRS will no longer print transcripts and deliver to TCC for summer enrollment on a TCC campus. Students will be responsible for submitting transcripts to TCC via Parchment for a $3.50 fee. March 27, 2017 Self-registration begins for classes on the TCC campus during the summer. Week of March 27, 2017 Personalized Course Selection Window Opens for Juniors- Students will arrange their course schedule in Skyward. Students will select where their Dual Credit courses will fit in their course schedule. Only students eligible for Dual Credit based on completion of Dual Credit enrollment steps and TSI qualification will be able to arrange Dual Credit in their school day. *See page 7 and 8 of the EMS ISD Dual Credit Handbook for more information.

12 Dual Credit Enrollment Process
Complete Dual Credit Student Information Online Form by 2/15 Register for Dual Credit classes in Career Cruising Complete the TCC Application through Apply Texas by 2/15 Complete the EMS ISD Dual Credit Agreement Form by 2/15 Complete the Residency Form by 2/15 Complete TSI required testing by 3/20 *See page 8 of the EMS ISD Dual Credit Handbook for more information.

13 Dual Credit Student Information Online Form
The Dual Credit Student Information Online Form is a way for the campus CCRS to collect needed information for TCC paper work and to identify desired courses and time requests. The online forms can be found in the following locations for each campus: Boswell HS: BHS College/CTE/Advanced Academics Website - Chisholm Trail High School: CTHS Counseling Website - Saginaw HS: SHS College and Career Center Website - *See page 9 of the EMS ISD Dual Credit Handbook for more information.

14 Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment

15 Meningitis Vaccination Requirements
A student taking any course on a TCC campus must submit records of current Meningitis vaccination. Students will submit Meningitis records to CCRS for the following classes: Advanced Aircraft Technology I Advanced Aircraft Technology II Business Information Management II Fire Fighter I Fire Fighter II Students will submit Meningitis records to TCC if taking classes on a TCC campus. *See page 15 and 16 of the EMS ISD Dual Credit Handbook for more information.

16 Payment & Financial Aid
Payments are made directly to TCC either ONLINE through the student Web Advisor account or IN PERSON at the TCC Business Services office. Students will be dropped from TCC courses if not paid by deadlines. Students will work with the TCC Financial Aid office if seeking financial aid for Dual Credit classes. A grant is available from TCC for eligible students. Students must complete the FAFSA for the school year they are enrolling, obtain forms from the campus CCRS, and take forms directly to the TCC Financial Aid office. *See page 17 and 18 of the EMS ISD Dual Credit Handbook for more information.

18 Major Changes for 2017-2018 Apply to TCC using www.applytexas.org
Dual Credit Student Information Online Form Personalized Course Selection Students will designate intention to take dual credit through Career Cruising and submit Dual Credit Student Information Online Form. On the student online information form, students must select the course and time slot they intend to take the course. If students complete the enrollment process and meet the qualifications for Dual Credit, students will be able to schedule their Dual Credit course in their school day. NOTE: Students must select the same time for the course as they did at the beginning of the process. If a dual credit course time must change, contact the CCRS. You may be put on a waitlist for the course.

19 Contact Information Campus College & Career Readiness Specialists are the coordinators at the campus level, and the liaisons between the campus and TCC. FERPA does prohibit TCC personnel from discussing student information with parents and the CCRS. The student is treated like a college student in ALL respects by TCC. 20 How to be Successful in a College Class
Student Responsibility (accountability) Communication with professor Attendance will be taken daily. Tarrant County College (TCC) policy allows faculty to withdraw students for excessive absences. Involvement in extra curricular activities does not excuse the student from course responsibilities. Syllabus outlines configuration of grades. The syllabus is the contract with the instructor. Students taking a 3 hour class should set aside a minimum of 6 hours per week to study.
