3 Direct Your FutureTM A career exploration program
Middle school and high school students Students are asked to think of their lives as a journey Message: the destinations of the past have the power to determine the destinations of the future A series of modules, students are challenged to focus on themselves and the world of work, and to learn how to map out a future career path

4 Modules Nine of the 11 modules for middle and high school
Two modules – Module 2 &11 – are suggested for high school students In some cases, there are different activities for these two age groups, they are clearly marked All modules include experiential activities to help students understand the career planning process Handouts with additional information are also included

5 Curriculum Basics Grounded in the career development theory of Dr. Donald Super and Dr. John Holland Uses assessments- Kuder Career Interests Assessment® and the Kuder Skills Confidence Assessment® Includes measurable objectives with each lesson The old ASCA Standards are used right now but Kuder is working on aligning them to the new Standards

6 Design Can be taught in many different time spans – advisory periods, classroom periods, block schedules, or even after school Each module is approximately 55 minutes, but you can cut down on discussion time, divide the module into multiple sessions, or omit one of the activities The approximate time for each activity is noted- and optional activities are listed with each module

7 Design Requires very little preparation time.
Each lesson begins with an overview of the module, that includes a Facilitator Preparation section Includes a complete lesson plan-- mini-lectures and discussion questions are scripted in italics, can be paraphrased Homework assignments are built around the topic PowerPoints, masters of activities & handouts are included

8 Design Some lessons include taking career assessments in OK Career Guide – an online career planning system provided free to your school Includes a special Parent Guide - A brief summary of each module, the homework assignment, and ways in which parents may explore the lesson with their child (may be reprinted and distributed)
