3 Product Line…  A product line is a group of related products made and marketed by a manufacturer.

4 Product Type…  A product type is a group of products offered by different companies which are technically similar:

5 Product Class… AA product class is a group of products that may be considered as substitutes for one another. Example: Subcompact Cars.

6 Same Product Class? Yes/No? No. The Kia is a subcompact car, and the Hyundai is a coupe (and more expensive).

7 Same Product Class? Yes/No? Yes. The Ford Mustang and the Chevy Camaro SS are both sports cars, similar in price.

8 Same Product Class? Yes/No? * Yes. Chanel and Louis Vuitton are both high-class brands.

9 Same Product Class? Yes/No? * Similar product type, but not the same product class.
