TrigEgamma Note L1 Plots Status Update Hardeep Bansil University of Birmingham Birmingham ATLAS Weekly Meeting 30/09/2010

data10 Analysis Currently using AthenaProduction-15.6.12.2 with ESDs on grid (most of Period E) Updated TrigT1CaloAnalysisExamples package Using MinBias and JetTauEtmiss streams eγ Good Runs Lists / Lumi block selection Check events pass L1_MBTS_1 || MBTS_2 trigger items Require >=1 vertex with >=3 associated tracks Remove photon conversions based on eγ finder Remove crack region between barrel and end-cap ΔR < 0.15 for matching ROIs to off-line electrons / photons Where L1_Jxx trigger used, EM cluster under study must have ΔR > 0.4 from jet ROI which triggered event Started from calibrated e, γ candidates from egClusterCollection … recalculate raw cluster ET, η, φ using energy weighting of CaloCells that make up CaloCluster 2

Plots to make for Egamma note EM2, EM3, EM5 Combined Efficiency Plot (MinBias stream) – Monte Carlo still to be added (with greater statistics) – Bump at low E T decreases as energy threshold increases – For note, it wants turn-on curves to go to 25 GeV but looks better going up to 15 GeV 3 Electrons and photons No isEm cut (combined to maximise statistics)

Plots to make for Egamma note EM10, EM14 Combined Efficiency Plot (MinBias stream) – Monte Carlo still to be added – Data could use more statistics as well – Nice to see no bump (if we have it at this level then something wrong) – For note, wants curves to go up to 40 GeV but needs to cut at 25 GeV 4 Electrons and photons No isEm cut (combined to maximise statistics)

Plots to make for Egamma note EM5 Turn On Curve – MBTS to JET trigger comparison – To show that it does not matter which independent trigger is used – MBTS uses MinBias stream ESDs, JET uses JetTauEtmiss stream ESDs – Will try to plot this one without Monte Carlo (Non-diffractive MinBias Monte Carlo does not appear to have many jet triggers in there) – For some odd reason cannot get the TMultigraph to overlay graphs yet (initial looks say that they are similar) 5 MBTS JET Tag and Probe

Plots to make for Egamma note Eta-phi efficiency map for EM3 (JET triggers) with OTX cuts – Clusters have raw ET greater than 5 GeV – Areas of inefficiency are understood much better but still need to do more checks with others (in order to explain them for the note) – Much better to do this with JET triggers than MBTS triggers (statistics) – Done in offline coordinates, phi shift for L1Calo 6 Electrons and photons No isEm cut (combined to maximise statistics) MBTS JET Tag and Probe

Next steps Plots almost completed – Mainly need to add Monte Carlo – Solve final few problems with Tmultigraph – Add a bit more polish Need to write a bit more text to explain problems with eta-phi efficiency maps – Understand all areas of inefficiency Show plots to TrigEgamma signature group Hope to have this done as soon as possible (at latest by next week) 7
