2 “They want to enhance your personal brand!” Personal branding is merely a way of selling yourself How do I want others to see me in my role as a librarian? What do I want to be known for? What is the best way to strategically communicate who we are and what we do to our patrons?

3 Are we focusing our energy in the right place?

4 As Gallup’s 2014 State of the American Consumer study found, “Social media sites are highly personal and conversational,” and people turn to social media to connect with other people, not to hear marketing messages from businesses or organizations. We want to hear from people over organizations Should we be shifting our social media focus to promoting our librarians just as much as we promote our libraries?

5 Is social media the ideal vehicle for personal branding? “If content is the fuel for your personal brand, social media is the engine.” - Jayson Demers, Founder and CEO AudienceBloom Social media can be a great platform for presenting ourselves and our value to others. A great window into who we are, what we do, and what makes us unique. Allows us to build meaningful relationships that go beyond merely pushing out information.
