4. BRAC 2005 LAW The Secretary of Defense recommended to the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission to realign the Naval Support Activity Base (NSA) in Algiers. This action effectively closes the Naval Support Activity. 4

5. 5  Prior to the eventual Naval Support Activity Realignment, “Saving the Base” for development was strongly supported by the State, City and the entire Louisiana Congressional Delegation.  The result was the Marine Corps Support Facility, a major post-Katrina economic development project, $150M of State funds committed to date (Mega Fund & Bonds). ADD supports maintaining the existing footprint of the PPV Housing Areas. March 2014-ADD took control of project from NOFA & HRI/ECC.
