3 CSP - who are we? The CSP is the specialist professional, educational and trade union body for the UK ’ s 52,000 qualified physiotherapists, physiotherap students and support workers

4 NHS terms & conditions Harmonised terms and conditions introduced in 2004 – known as Agenda for Change The agreement covers all the main terms and conditions of employment in the NHS

5 Pay & holiday Nine pay bands Starting Band 5 salary - £ 21,388 37.5 hours a week 27 days leave per year + 8 bank holidays

10 Offered a job? Check all correspondence carefully before signing anything Confirm all verbal assurances in writing Remember that signing or not signing a contract will not “ save ” you if there are problems later

11 The HCPC Body which regulates 16 health professions inc. social workers Need to register to practise as a physio in the UK Its function is to protect the public – complaints can be made by patients, relatives, other physios or the employer

13 Full CSP membership Full membership of the CSP is £27.47 per month This can be reduced by 20%-40% by claiming tax relief £10 / month rate if you are unemployed or contract is less than 4 months

14 How to join the CSP Full members application pack will be sent to you on graduation – complete and return in reply paid envelope If not a CSP student member – join now! Joining fee £ 20 for student members Joining fee £ 195 for graduate non- members
