2. “A fetus is a just a blob of tissue, and not a human.” From the moment of conception, the unborn child is a genetically unique member of Homo sapiens. Describe relatable human features of unborn children for an emotional appeal. The heart starts beating at 18-21 days. Brain waves can be detected 6 weeks. All body systems are present at 8 weeks. The majority of abortions stop a beating heart.

3. “It’s a woman’s right to choose what she does with her body.” A woman has complete control over her own body. An unborn baby is a separate human being developing inside of her. Human life begins at conception. In today’s society, the “freedom of choice” supposedly stems from sexual inequality, implying that women must kill their children in order to become first-class citizens. Unborn children and their mothers are not enemies.

4. “Social” Arguments If you support “choice”, then support an informed choice. There are pro-life support centers across the country to help in difficult situations. Every child is a wanted child. Many women feel like abortion is their only option and an “easy way out.” However… …aborting a child does not end poverty or spousal abuse. Abortion does not decrease child abuse. Abortion is never the answer.

5. The “Hard” Cases Less than 6% of all abortions are done as a result of rape, incest, or fetal disabilities. Killing fetuses because of a disability or disease implies that any person living with a disability would be better off dead. Rape is violence against an innocent woman. Abortion is violence against an innocent child. Turn something terrible into something good: life is the answer.

6. Recognize Sidetracking “Don’t push your religion on me!” I didn’t mention religion. This is science. Religious arguments evade scientific fact. The pro-life movement is made up of people of all faiths (and atheists, too). “A fetus may have a right-to-life, but it’s not a person.” We can’t arbitrarily determine who is and isn’t a person. If we do, then who decides if we are? This manipulates science and philosophy. It suggests that an unborn baby, biologically human from conception, isn’t morally human.

7. Propaganda Fetus…unborn child or baby. Clinic…abortion facility. Choices…alternatives, options. Answer questions directly and use those opportunities to steer the debate.
