3 Why use sensory details in your writing? Writers purposely use crafts when they write to make their writing more beautiful and interesting. Adding sensory details … – Lets your story come alive – Helps the reader visualize – which keeps the reader engaged

4 A Day At The Beach Visual: Sounds: Smells: Tastes: Feelings/Textures: Children playing in the sand, people lying on the beach &swimming in the water, sparkling sand with white-speckled shells, water meeting the blue sky at the horizon Lifeguard stand People talking and laughing, lifeguard’s warning whistle, waves hitting the sand, splashing of swimmers Ocean air, slight fishy smells, suntan lotion, salty water, food (hot dogs, hamburgers, fruit) Salt water, food (chips, hot dogs, ice cream, fruit) Heat of sun, sweat, cool water, soft towel on skin, sand between toes, slimy fish rubbing against legs
