2. What is a rain forest? A rain forest is a hot, humid, rainy place where 50% of the animals live. 80 inches of rain falls in the rain forest. In the rain forest, the trees grow hundreds of feet high.

3. Location of Rain Forests Rain forests are located in North America, South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia. South America has the biggest rain forest in the world. North America has the smallest rain forest.

4. Emergent Layer In the emergent layer, the trees grow hundreds of feet high. The emergent layer is taller than the canopy and the understory. Birds, monkeys, harpy eagles, sloths, and butterflies live in the emergent layer. The emergent layer is above the canopy layer.

5. Canopy Layer The canopy layer is above the understory layer. There are many different animals in the canopy like bats, lizards, jaguars, and toucans. There are vines and pretty flowers in the canopy layer.

6. Understory Layer The understory is below the canopy. There are many animals in the understory like bats, lizards, jaguars, toucans, and butterflies The low growing plants live in the understory.

7. Forest Floor The forest floor is below the understory. The forest floor has very small trees that live there. There are plenty of animals that live in the forest floor like anteaters, tapirs, leaf- cuter ants, and snakes.

8. Deforestation Deforestation is a very bad for the rain forest. Deforestation is killing plants and animals. The people are cutting down trees and making it into paper, houses, and floors. They also are making schools, shopping areas, and roads.

9. People of the Rain Forest People have lived in the rain forest for thousands of years. People of the rain forest hunt for animals. People of the rain forest use the bamboo point for hunting large animals.

10. The Magnificent Jasmine Once upon a time there was a monkey that was born. Her name was Jasmine. Her name was called that because she was very pretty. She met a jaguar that was very lazy. He didn’t even speak a word. He would sleep for hours and hours. So, Jasmine woke him up and took him for a walk. He started to do that every day. Finally, he started to get happy. Then, he gave her a gift and it was the gift of friendship. The End

The Amazing Ant-Eater Once upon a time, there was a little girl.She wanted to go to the rain forest and see cool rain forest animals.When she got to the rain forest, she saw a ant-eater.The ant- eater decided to let her climb a tree.When she climbed it,she fell.Then the ant-eater caught her.She was very happy.When she got home she would never forget what had happened.
