SLDS What is SLDS?

Definition The Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS) Grant Program of 2002, was designed to help schools develop and implement longitudinal data systems. These systems are intended to enhance the ability of states to efficiently and accurately manage, analyze and use education data, including individual student records.

SLDS Why use it?

Information supporting the need Practical Needs Graduate courses often ask for demographic data Parent/teacher conferences: great resource to SHOW parents Can greater knowledge about students The data systems developed with funds from these grants should: Help states, districts, schools, and teachers make data-driven decisions to improve student learning. Facilitate research to increase student achievement and close achievement gaps.

SLDS Access

How do I access it? For your convenience, a link to SLDS is on the side bar of Infinite Campus. Clicking on the link takes you to the SLDS page where you can view student meticulously collected longitudinal information.

SLDS How do I use it?

How do I do it? On-line support and training through Georgia Virtual Learning is available to assist teachers as they use SLDS. A series of concise interactive online modules take new users through the steps for making the best use of the powerful data SLDS brings to Georgia's citizens and educators. 16 My Data By “hovering” over most charts, an explanation of the data will be provided. Also, the “hand” appears to let you know it is a hyperlink that will lead to a breakdown of the specific students that make up that data piece. Click here for a roster of students

My Data Choose the class period you want to view. Locally defined = Homeroom

My Data The screen shot below shows what appears when you choose a period. Notice each name is hyperlinked and will yield specific data and charts for the chosen student.

Individual Student Data The screen shot below is a portion of what appears by choosing a particular students. Notice that the icon at the top allows any and all of these charts to be exported to the program of your choice!

SLDS Growth Model

Georgia Student Growth Model The Growth Model is the latest update the GaDOE has made to SLDS. The growth model describes change in student achievement across time. Georgia is implementing the Student Growth Percentile (SGPs) methodology as its growth model. SGPs describe a student’s growth relative to other students statewide with similar prior achievement (students who have a similar score history). An SGP not only shows how an individual student is progressing from year to year, but it also shows how groups of students, schools, districts, and the state are progressing.

Growth Model Each circle represents a grade level. The circles are hyperlinks and will link to specific classes. From there, the new circles link to specific students.

Search by Teacher The screen shot below shows a search by 7 th grade teachers for the 2011-2012 school year. Hovering over a particular circle provides the name of the teacher and their specific data. Clicking on the selected teacher links to his/her specific classes. My academic classes
