Be the Best at Taking a Test!

Preparing for a Test Budget your time – start studying early! Make sure you understand what’s on the test. Be sure to study homework assignments, workbook pages, notes, and the study guide. Reread and discuss the chapter or story with a parent, caregiver, or study buddy. Get a good night’s sleep before the test.

Taking a Test Bring all the required materials to the test (pens, pencils, notes, textbook, etc…) Don’t spend too much time on a “stumper.” Skip it, put a circle around the number, and come back later. Ask for clarification if you don’t understand a question. Don’t worry about other people! Take your time and do your best. If you finish early, review the answers and look for anything you skipped or any other careless mistakes you may have made. Keep a positive attitude! You can do it!

Multiple Choice Tips –Read the question & think of the answer –Read ALL of the choices –Eliminate the answers you know are wrong –Decide which is best & mark it

Short Answer & Essay Tips Use other parts of the test as clues. Read the questions carefully. Answer completely. Reread your answer to make sure you’ve included all the information asked for. Write neatly so that the teacher can read it!

After a Test Look it over to see if you understand your mistakes. Ask any questions. Save the test to study in the future.

I am OK.” Treat yourself when you’re done!
