2 The ears intricate and delicate structure makes it vulnerable to damage. Problems with the mechanical system that conducts sound waves to the cochlea cause conduction hearing loss. If the eardrum is punctured the ears ability to conduct vibrations diminishes.

3 Damage to the cochlea’s hair cell receptors or their associated nerves can cause the more common (nerve deafness).

4 Cochlear Implants A Cochlear Implant is a sort of bionic ear. Cochlear Implants transmit electrical impulses to the brain. It helps deaf children hear some sounds and to learn to use spoken language.
