7 University of Macedonia INTERREG III © University of Macedonia 7 Interreg III context  Interreg III is a Community project that aims to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union by promoting cross-border, transnational and interregional co-operation.  Interreg III supports actions in relation to the borders and border areas between Member States and between the European Union and non- member countries.  The project is under strand A, which refers to cross-border cooperation.  The project domain is cross border cooperation between Greece and Bulgaria.  The action under the project falls is “Cooperation between Educational and Research Institutions”.

9 University of Macedonia INTERREG III © University of Macedonia 9 Project Objectives  The focal objective envisaged is the development of a network of collaboration among the participating Universities and other members and the delivery of integrated cross-border e-government services for: –citizens –business enterprises

10 University of Macedonia INTERREG III © University of Macedonia 10 Project Objectives The project objective is two-fold:  The transfer of knowledge and know-how in e-government projects among the collaborators –The development of workgroups with common interests in specific fields of e-government  The development of pilots for the delivery of integrated cross-border e-government services –eGovernment models will be researched –Citizen and business needs will be analysed –Integrated interventions will be proposed that aim at better services for citizens and companies –The pilot operation of the service will be evaluated

14 University of Macedonia INTERREG III © University of Macedonia 14 Project Workpackages:  WP1: Development of the collaboration framework –To develop the preparation phase and create basic infrastructure for the partner collaboration –To establish workgroups and technological infrastructure necessary  WP 2: Review of projects, actions and eGovernment best practices in a national and international level –To perform a critical survey of projects, activities and good practices in eGoverment in Greece and Bulgaria –To evaluate the good practices and focus on activities which could be implemented –To exchange experiences and know-how on public administration and eGovernment  WP3: Identification and analysis of citizens' and businesses' needs for cross- border activities and proposal of solutions –To perform a literature review of citizen and business needs in cross-border services –To collect and evaluate citizen and business needs in cross-border services –To analyse life events and business episodes presenting cross border implementation potential
