MPLS Network Eight (8) CORE router locations to ensure high availability in MPLS backbone MPLS routers at about 150 PoP locations. Each Edge/access router connected to minimum two (2) up- stream routers via different paths to ensure ‘No Single Point of Failure’ in the network. Bandwidth Availability: Core and Edge network is designed at 10Gbps and access is designed as 1 Gbps at present. Network is future scalable to 40 Gbps in core. Backbone Agnostic Design: Network built on dual backbone makes it highly reliable and sturdy. MPLS services available at all existing PoP locations of covered on existing SDH/DWDM network. State-of-art Main Network Operations Centre (NOC) at New Delhi and Disaster Recovery (DR) NOC at Hyderabad. An Overview of POWERGRID - Telecom9

NOFN National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) project – a Govt. of India initiative is world largest rural broad band connectivity project through optical fiber. Under NOFN project, around 6600 blocks of India in around 650 districts shall be connected to 2,50,000 Gram Panchayats of respective blocks by utilising existing fibre of BSNL, RAILTEL and POWERGRID. Incremental fibre shall be laid wherever required Approx. 6 Lakh Km new incremental fiber to be laid. Minimum 100Mbps bandwidth at each Gram Panchayat BBNL (Bharat Broadband Network Limited)- a SPV has been set up for establishment, management and Operation of NOFN project. Initial cost of project was around Rs. 20,000 Cr funded by USOF (DOT ). Work allocation: BSNL (70%), RAILTEL (15%), POWERGRID (15%) An Overview of POWERGRID - Telecom 12
