19 Vchera (1988) Yesterday (English title) written by VLADO DAVEROV Book of the term published in 1988

20 VLADO DAVEROV VLADO DAVEROV was born in 1948 in the city of Pleven. He is an author of several short stories collections and the novels "Yesterday", "Kennedy", "Excited and Wild", "The Life of the others". He’s also an author of the scripts of several Bulgarian feature films. Most of his works are translated in all European languages.

22 Setting The setting is in an elite Bulgarian English language school

23 The plot and its conflict It's a also a hard story about one impossible love with the classic love triangle A story of genuine loyalty, nobility and devotion. not all the puns and absurdities in the plot may be easily understandable to people who have not lived behind the Iron Curtain The plot confronts the mentality of the two generations: & the teachers who fight the aspirations of their students for more liberty Being a young rebel of the late sixties NB !!! The book is not about politics, it is about the change of generations and the change of values in general

24 Foreshadowing Shown are a group of young people coming of age, struggling with the realities and paradoxes of their future adult life in Bulgarian communism society. Shown is the ferocious competition within the top classes in Bulgarian society, which was otherwise supposed to be class-free. Shown is also the inequality in a society where everyone was supposed to be equal. Shown is the impending sexual revolution in a country that was often hypocritical about sexual issues. Foreshadowing Some of characters: will pay a high price (costs the life of one of the characters, Rostislav) other will experience cruel worldly lessons but they at least made their best to save face
