5. Presentation A Coat is a highly regarded person at the entertainment venue YOU ARE NEVER FULLY DRESSED WITHOUT A SMILE Always have mints, a pen, program and a watch with you at all times. Hygiene and how you look after your uniform is very important. It is important that you are the smartest person in the room.

6. As an Entertainer you are: A Child’s Friend A Dance Partner A Child’s Hero YOU ARE ONLY AS GOOD AS YOUR LAST PERFORMANCE! A SMILE GOES A LONG WAY ALWAYS SPEAK TO EVERYONE YOU MUST BE WARM & FRIENDLY BE APPROACHABLE TO EVERYONE Personality PROMOTION Promote the next act and the next nights entertainment ATTITUDE If you have a bad attitude or can't be trusted you will not get far in this job.

7. Get to work at least 15-30mins before you start. TIMING is so important when working within a park. Punctuality Coats have long days, but there are still NO excuses for lateness. It is unprofessional for the guest to arrive before the Coat. If you are are running late make sure your shift is covered. ON TIME IS LATE !

8. CABARET ACTS Firstly learn what the Act will be performing in his/her performance. Ask them if they need anything i.e. water, coffee or a snack? RESPECT them and they will RESPECT you back. Prepare for the Cabaret Act: Do they have a mini disc, do they need certain lighting? Cabarets rely on you as a coat to help them through there act by laughing, clapping along and crowd motivation

9. While A Cabaret Act Is On Stage You Should Be In One Of the Following Places IN THE SOUND & LIGHTING BOX Remember to Prepare & Concentrate Interact with the audience SITTING WITH THE CHILDREN ON THE FLOOR Use your common sense keep an eye on them, keep them off the Stage & out of the Danger Zones. Parents are still responsible for their own children. ON THE STAGE Sometimes Acts & Parks like their coats to dress the stage and join in with the act. Never take the limelight. If you don’t like an act keep it to yourself. Do not discuss on or off the stage SITTING IN THE AUDIENCE With families, but gradually making your way around to all families & other guests.

10. GENERAL DAY IN A LIFE OF A COAT Some Parks also have Day Time Activities. This varies due to the size of the Park, Location and if they have Day Trips. In a general day, the morning usually starts with the Kids Activities Club which will involve at least two Coats for safety reasons. Because this job requires you to work with children, you MUST be CRB checked. NEVER BE ALONE WITH A CHILD. No matter what the situation. NEVER PICK UP A CHILD.

11. GENERAL EVENING At The Start Of The Evening One Coat would be in the D.J Box to play music and make announcements. The others would be at the door to welcome the guests in to the club. The Evening Would Begin 7.30pm : Kids Entertainment & Characters 8.30pm : Bingo Ticket Sales 9.00pm : BINGO. 9.30pm : Party Dances. 9.50pm : CABERET. 11.15pm : DISCO Till close.

Professional Vocalist Musical Theatre Stage Work and the list goes on … The Entertainment business also gives you excellent opportunities to work abroad and on cruise ships What Happens In An Audition? BE WELL PREPARED Make Sure You Have CDs, Mini Disc or an Ipod. Dress Smartly and comfortably as you may be asked to dance or sing. Always take an interest in the company for example look up the company on the internet, view their website and read any testimonials and find out as much information as you can.

13. That covers what is expected of you as an Entertainer from the audition, to employment as an entertainer to where it may take you in the future. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT AND UNDERSTOOD AND HOW MUCH CAN YOU REMEMBER? Will you be able to apply what you have learnt to situations and scenarios faced by entertainers in their work environments both on a daily basis and throughout their careers within the entertainment industry

14. WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE PHONE EXAM/INTERVIEW You will be given 20 situations and scenarios that entertainers encounter during their work both on a daily basis and during their careers. You will be asked to describe in your own words how you would act, react or conduct yourself in these situations. A short phone interview will then follow basically ascertaining your suitability to a career in Entertainment. This would include questions about your self confidence, personality and what you think you could bring to the role of an entertainer. At the end of the phone/exam interview we will let you know if we think you are ready and suitable for certification. Enhancing Entertainment aims to provide Entertainers of a high standard to employers to maintain our excellent reputation as providers of entertainment staff to the entertainment industry so if we do not think you are suitable or ready then we will be honest and let you know.
