Entering the classroom Finish all food and drink before entering the classroom. You must be in your assigned seat when the bell rings. The purpose of the class, your homework and your immediate assignment will be posted on the board. Read them, write down your homework, and start your assignment.

Necessary Supplies You must bring a spiral-bound notebook with pockets every day. This notebook is ONLY for this class. You will turn in your notebook whenever I ask for it, for a grade. You must have a folder with paper every day, for classwork that must be handed in. You must have pens, pencils, an eraser, a sharpener and a calculator every day. A four dollar lab fee is assessed every year for lab supplies. Please pay the treasurer as soon as possible, and bring me your receipt for an extra credit grade.

Restroom Procedures If you need to leave the class to use the restroom, you must ask permission and take a yellow hall pass. You may not interrupt the teacher to do this, but wait for an appropriate time. You may ONLY go to the restroom on this floor. Excessive absences from the classroom will result in detention or referrals.

No…. Electronic toys Unauthorized cell phone use Food or drink Talking when someone else is talking Destroying school property (no writing on desks, on text books or any other school property)

Group work We often work in groups in this class. I decide who works with whom. Each person in the group must participate in the work. Labs reports must be written individually. No two lab reports should be the same. Everybody has their own writing style. If you share your work, all students involved receive an F.

Cheating See “academic integrity policy”.

Leaving the classroom You must stay on task until you are dismissed. Make sure your area is clean (pick up anything on the floor around your desk). While I have no intention of keeping you longer than the class time, you may not get ready to leave until I tell you that you may do so. Any one who disregards this rule will serve a detention.

Consequences If you destroy or lose property you will be charged for it. If you break a rule you must serve a detention. Detentions are served in this classroom for 30 minutes after school on Thursdays. If you miss a detention you will be given a referral. Your parent (or guardian) will be notified. If you are disruptive you will be removed from the classroom, your parent (or guardian) notified, and a referral given.

Knowledge is power The purpose of you being here is to learn. Learning will enhance your life and give you power. I hope you have a good year.
