3 2016 Teen Conference Protocol Essentials Protocol is…. The code of ceremonial forms and courtesies accepted as proper in official dealings and public forum. The act of following procedures, which prescribe order and good manners in official activities, rituals and ceremonies. (Webster’s Dictionary)

4 It’s not personal Where will we see protocol in Jack and Jill? Everywhere

5 Meeting Protocol Arrive early, teens should arrive a minimum of ten minutes prior to the start of an activity Address each officer by title during meetings. Wait to be recognized by chair. Keep remarks brief and clear. Be respectful. Be Prompt. Be supportive. Be kind.

6 Procession The Processional line up is in the reverse order of rank (lowest Ranking Member Enters first). ALWAYS rise for the National President when she is introduced Rise for the Regional Director at conferences in her Region Rise for the Regional Teen President during the procession ( the presiding officer) We will have a procession during the Opening Ceremony and the Senior Gala

7 Teen Conduct Act like ladies and gentlemen at all times –no loud talking, singing, laughing or yelling Always be courteous to chaperones and hotel staff Curfew is noted on the conference agenda and is strictly enforced –after room check YOU MAY NOT LEAVE YOUR ROOM FOR ANY REASON Respect and be careful with the hotel property Dispose of trash properly Maintain order in the rooms; be considerate of the housekeeping staff

8 Teen Conduct Alcoholic beverages, marijuana, illegal stimulants, or any other illegal drugs and/or controlled substances for which the teen does not have a prescription or has not provided the required medical and prescription information on the liability release document, are expressly prohibited. Any teen found using, in possession of, or participating, or any individual who is using drugs or alcohol will be sent home immediately at the parent's expense. Remember to tip hotel staff – 15% - 18%

9 Teen Conference Attire ATTIRE – “It’s Not Fashion” Ceremonial Attire What is Acceptable and Required? Moms and Teens should wear appropriate Attire!

10 Ceremonial Attire Young ladies – white (nurses’ white, not beige) dress or suit (no pants). Shoulders must be covered, cap sleeves a minimum. Sweaters and shrugs maybe worn over strapless dresses. ALL white shoes Flesh tone or white stockings Young men – Collared dress shirts with a tie and jacket or suit with a belt. Ceremonial attire is required at the opening and closing sessions Those without proper attire will be not be allowed to participate in the ceremonies. Ceremonial Attire must be worn for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies

11 Teen Conference Dress Code Business casual attire is required at Workshops, Breakfast of Champions and Leadership Luncheon. Young ladies: pants, skirts, or dresses, no jeans, no tennis shoes and sandals (unless dress sandal shoes with a heel) Business casual attire for young men: collared shirt (polo shirts allowed), slacks or khakis, no jeans and tennis shoes, no hats or caps. Shirts must be tucked into pants with a belt. What to Wear to Plenaries/ Workshops

12 Shoe Regulations (Ladies) Opening/Closing Sessions (Ceremonial White) Pump or flat shoes Peep Toe with a closed back Closed Toe with a sling back Cannot have peep toe with a sling back No Sandals Plenary Sessions/Workshops (Business/Business Casual Attire) Any color shoe, any heel height Sandals must have a heel No flip flops or gym shoes or gladiator shoe

15 Acceptable Casual Wear (Dinners & Teen Dances) Jeans, t-shirts, sundresses, appropriate shorts Shorts and skirts must be mid-thigh length, use finger tip barometer Undergarments must not be visible during dance/skit performance No “see through” or transparent attire No visible mid-sections Dress code is applicable to all events during conference

16 Teen Conference Theme Attire Wednesday – Casual all white welcome Thursday – Ceremonial attire ( ALL WHITE), Community service - Conference T-shirts, Friday – Business attire, Game Day – chapter – t-shirt, Step show/Talent show - casual Saturday, Senior gala- Formal, semi formal attire Young ladies, dresses should be modest refrain from displaying excessive bounty (No mini dresses ) Young men - dark suit or tuxedo, tie or formal collar and dress shoes or dress jackets Sunday, Installation/Worship - Ceremonial white

17 What NOT to wear to Plenary Sessions and Workshops Teen Dress Code No halters or midriffs, strapless tops or dresses, spaghetti strap tops or dresses, or “see through”/transparent attire. No hats/caps/wave wraps/doo-rags/skull caps or bandanas. No short skirts, miniskirts, or shorts. No jeans No droopy pants, cut off jeans (holes), or exposed midriffs. Pants must be belted at the waistline
