Grade Replacement Policy - You may grade replace three courses or a maximum of 10 credit hours. The second (hopefully higher) grade will be calculated into your cumulative-grade-point- average. - You must request Student Services to process paperwork after you have received your grade and successfully completed the repeat. Email, call or stop in. - Registrar’s Office processes paperwork…can take up to 2 weeks for processing depending on time of year. - For more information refer to page 30 of the 2011-2013 IU South Bend Bulletin.

You may withdraw from a course online (OneStart) through the 10 th week of a semester. Always check the academic calendar. You do not need faculty or advisor signature. There is no refund. You will receive a “W”. Implications of withdrawing: If receiving Financial Aid, withdrawing may impact Spring aid package. Always check with F.A. prior to dropping. May place you “out-of- sequence” or push back your application date for admission into Dental Hygiene Program.

Choosing Electives

COMMON CORE ELECTIVES (190 & 390/399) Please check the faculty General Education Website at: https://www.iusb.edu/general-educ/ for latest listing of courses offered. -Remember, one of your common core electives must be at a 390/399 level. Your Common Core Electives are N, T and B 190 – one of which must be a 390 or 399 – Junior-level course. All other General Education descriptions including approved courses can be found on pages 35 - 40 of the current IU South Bend 2011-2013 Bulletin. IU South Bend Bulletin 2011-2013 Pages 35 - 40

For both programs in Dental Hygiene (AS or BS), the science sequencing of courses remains the same: Completion of MATH-M 107, College Algebra or Math Placement Test of Level 4. CHEM-C 101/121, Elementary Chemistry I with lab. Exception: if you graduated HS within past 3 years and had one-full year of HS Chemistry (not integrated CHEM/Physics) and you can remember basic principles, you may bypass CHEM-C 101/121 and move to… CHEM-C 102, Elementary Chemistry II, 3 cr. hrs. CHEM-C 102 can be taken concurrently with ANAT A210. ANAT-A 210 and CHEM-C102 are prerequisites for PHSL-P 204 and MICRO-M 250/M255. (A210 prerequisite for P204-- new Biology policy to be implemented beginning with Sp’10.) PHSL- P204 and MICR-M250/M255 may be taken concurrently. Beginning in Fall 2013, A&P Science requirements change to PHSL-P 261 and PHSL-P262.

CHEM-C102 is required for both the AS and BS degree programs. The Biology Department added this prerequisite to MICR-M250/M255 in Fall 2008 for all Pre- Dental Hygiene majors. If you have completed CHEM-C 102, to request a seat in MICR-M250/M255 you need to contact Ms. Angela Huff, Biology/Chemistry Secretary, beginning March 19 th if your CHEM-C 102 is completed. Her office is located in NS 137. Refer to registration packet letter. Students currently enrolled in CHEM-C 102 will not be granted permission for a seat in MICR-M 250/M255 unless they have a grade of B in the course, beginning on March 26 th. For students who have grades less than a B, they must wait until the end of the semester and earn a final grade of C or better. DHBS must take MICR-M250/M255. If you enroll in M250/M255 and need to withdraw from M250, you must withdraw from both. IF you are in the AS program and are considering completing the BS DH degree in the future, take M255, Microbial Cell Biology Lab along with the course. It will be much easier to do that now than later. Summer/Fall 2012 Registration
