8 Introduction to the Programme Programme Aim: To equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to plan and deliver services within the dynamic context of the 21 st century by enabling the student to: Develop their professional expertise and political awareness through critical reflection. Influence and contribute to the strategic direction of the service in a critical and informed way. Synthesise and evaluate new theoretical and practice based knowledge which contributes to professional and service development.

17 Module Aim: To explore the key theories and concepts underpinning advanced practice roles within the fields of health and social care Assessment: 1.3,000 word review of the evidence underpinning a specific aspect of their practice (80% of total module mark). 2.A formative group presentation “The Scope of Advanced Practice” 3.A summative group presentation “Evaluation of how organsiational governance structures will support advanced practitioner roles” (20% of your module mark) Term 1: Advancing Professional Practice: concepts and theories

18 Module Aim: To extend their practice based expertise from their current level of proficiency towards expert practice based on the achievement of predetermined competencies related to their role. Assessment: 1.A portfolio to demonstrate achievement of identified core competencies related to advanced practice in their professional field 2.It will include a 4,000 word critical reflection (100% of total module mark). Term 2: Advancing Professional Practice: extending expertise

19 Term 1: Teaching Learning and Assessment 1 Module Aim: To develop expertise in teaching and assessing learners in the practice setting. Assessment 1. A 2,500 word critical evaluation of the learning and assessment strategies used within a programme of learning that you have developed for an identified learner in their area of practice (100% of module mark) 2. A portfolio that demonstrates through a range of evidence that you are meeting identified professional teaching, learning and assessment standards (Pass/Fail)

20 Term 2: Teaching Learning and Assessment 2 Module aim: To develop expertise in curriculum development and recognise the importance of quality assurance in post compulsory education Assessment A 3,000 word essay focussing on the quality assurance mechanisms involved in the development and monitoring of the programme of learning that you have been involved in. A 1,000 word critical reflection on your performance teaching a group of learners, using educational theory to support your critique.

21 Module Aim: To provide the opportunity to critically analyse health and social care policy within the international, national and local context. To consider how health and social care policy shapes strategy and future service developments. Assessment: Students will be expected to choose a health and social care policy which impacts on their sphere of practice and plan a Service Development related to this policy. A presentation (20% of your module mark) A 1,500 word business proposal (40% of your module mark) A 1,500 word critical reflection (40% of your module mark) Term 1: Policy, Strategy and Planning

22 Module Aim: To provide the opportunity to critically analyse health and social care policy within the international, national and local context. To consider how health and social care policy shapes strategy and future service developments. Assessment: Students will be expected to choose a health and social care policy which impacts on their sphere of practice and plan a Service Development related to this policy. 23 Module Aim: To provide the opportunity to develop consultancy skills through work-based and experiential learning. Assessment: Students will complete a consultancy project which may take place within a managerial, educational or practice context but will be related to the field of health and social care. Term 2: Consultancy

24 Module Aim: To develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide strategic direction and leadership within their sphere of influence. Assessment: 1.A 2,000 word critical reflection on the process of developing the strategy, justifying the approaches used, identifying lessons learnt and making recommendations for their future development as a leader (50% of mark) 2. A 2,000 word action plan to implement, monitor and evaluate the strategy (50% of mark) Term 3: Applied Leadership
