3. WHY IS SCHENGEN A GOOD IDEA? Less expensive for countries to maintain border control Less time for goods to move across Europe More easy to foreigners to travel around Europe They don’t need a visa for each country! Less travel time and easy travel for EU citizens No worry about passports, visas, and long lines at control points

4. SCHENGEN COUNTRIES Some countries in Schengen are not full members of the EU, and some members of the EU are not in Schengen. Examples: Norway and Iceland are part of Schengen but not members of the EU. The United Kingdom and Ireland are members of the EU but not part of Schengen.
