Including 16 NAVAREA Coordinator, one Sub-area Coordinator and four National Coordinators

4 Activities: 14th Drafting Review Working Group IMO Resolutions: A.1051(27) Worldwide Met-Ocean Information and Warning Service A.705(17) Promulgation of Maritime Safety Information A.706(17) World-Wide Navigation Warning Service A.664(16) Performance standards for enhanced group call equipment MSC.305(87) Guideline on operational procedures for the broadcast of maritime safety information concerning acts of piracy and piracy countermeasure operations MSC.306(87) Revised performance standards for enhanced group call (EGC) equipment

5 Activities All draft documents are available via the WWNWS page of the IHO web site Members are encouraged to review and submit comments

6 Activities GMDSS/MSI MSI Self-assessment reports from all 21 NAVAREA Coordinators Review of assessment is ongoing IMO brief on activities of the Organization GMDSS Master Plan reviewed with 8 amendments awaiting input WMO brief on activities of the Organization Noted increased cooperation between NAVAREA and METAREA Coordinators IMSO brief on activities of the Organization Discussed the process for the technical assessment of potential new GMDSS mobile satellite service providers IOC brief on activities of the Organization Discussion on the Tsunami Early Warning System and issues for comment by WWNWS

7 Activities MSI Capacity Building Training Courses EAHC – March 3-5 in Tokyo, Japan MBSHC – Scheduled for Oct 20-23 in Istanbul, Turkey MACHC – Funded for 2016 SWPHC – Funded for 2016 Need for additional French and Spanish speaking instructors

8 Main Items under Consideration Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure (MSDI) The USCHC will work to establish a Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure for the region that will as sow greater discoverability and usability of hydrographic data to the consumers in the region Marine activities beyond safety of navigation, such as coastal managers, industry research and disaster relief efforts that use hydrographic data will be enhanced Both nations are committed to making MSDI and data-centricity a core focus to standardize the collection, management, interoperability and dissemination

9 Action requested Take note of the report Encourage attendance of MS and Observes at WWNWS meetings Raise awareness via national delegations regarding impacts of e- Navigation on the provision of MSI Highlight the use of the Joint Manual on MSI Encourage close engagement of National coordinators with NAVAREA Coordinator(s) Encourage coordination between WWNWS and Regional CB Coordinators Take other action as deemed appropriate
