2 By using the hands-on activity of cooking, this four day lesson consisting of research, writing, and project-making focuses on the students’ knowledge about different cultures. While featuring some of the major concepts from both the English Language and Mathematics Connecticut Common Core Standards, this project will push the students to connect their own cultures to what they learn everyday in the classroom. It will be broken down into five 50 minute class periods. This lesson is designed for fifth graders in a Montessori school type environment because it is very much hands-on and directed towards specific interests rather than normal teaching methods.

All three group members will fill out the same worksheet made by the teacher with the answers from the guest Once finished, the students and the guest will take a picture together

6 In the teacher email, the guest will be notified to keep the cooking very simple and completion time under a half hour All of the prepping will take place on the lunch tables, and once ready to use heat (if needed) the cafeteria workers will aid them to the kitchen and give assistance Again, another picture will taken of the students and their freshly made food
