2 Objective and Key Point SWBAT describe and explain the rise and fall of the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire provided economic and political stability to the middle east region it controlled. After WWI and the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, the middle east region was now vulnerable to nationalistic and sectarian influences.

3 WIIFM The Ottoman Empire is known for its extensive Islamic influence in regions like the Middle East for over 1000 years. After WWI the seeds of much of the conflict in the Mideast today were planted by Britain and the victors of World War I, when they carved up the remains of the Ottoman Empire influencing Middle Eastern Culture with Western Ideals.
