Goals of the consultation meetings From the ToR, the goals of the meeting in the first year should be: communicate that the panel exists; collect input from the community; receive reports from regional planning activities. This workshop organised in each region should allow the neutrino community to express freely their thoughts, ideas, and give inputs to the panel as well as describing the regional planning activities in the field (involvement on neutrino beam projects etc..). ICFA Neutrino Panel is organizing a consultation meeting of the European neutrino community  Asia: November 13th 2013 at the end of NNN13 workshop  Europe: January 8-10th 2014 in Paris  Americas: January 30th – February 1st 2014 at FNAL 1

The meeting in Paris: Registration is open http://www.apc.univ-paris7.fr/APC/Conferences/ICFA_Neutrino_European_Meeting_2014/Home.html The agenda is under construction. We meet today to complete and optimize it Main guidelines: Should focus on European activities and projects Put the emphasis on accelerator based experiments and projects Get a clear picture of the European activities (short and medium terms) Collect inputs from individuals or groups and call for presentation proposals Have specific presentations /reviews Leave time periods for discussions Dominique Duchesneau CNRS/IN2P3, France Michele Maltoni IFT UAM/CSIC, Madrid, Spain Mauro Mezzetto INFN Padova, Italy Jan Sobczyk Wroclaw University, Poland Morgan Wascko Imperial College London, UK European panel members: 2 meeting of the European neutrino community

Main structure of the agenda 3  Phenomenology/theory talks on neutrino physics for the topics linked to the European projects presented in this meeting o Oscillation review o Importance of CP violation discovery in leptonic sector o Sterile neutrinos in a global picture  The Mass Hierarchy  Experimental methods, how to assess the statistical significance in future projects  CP violation: what are the various possible strategies to access it? o Experimental aspects, baselines, statisctics versus systematics o Current experimental reports and prospects on MNSP and MH in coming 5 years o Running experiments o Sterile neutrino searches 1 st day: Summary: Progress on PMNS matrix and sterile in coming years with running or approved projects

meeting of the European neutrino community Main structure of the agenda 4  European studies on future options o Accelerator projects and R&D o Alternative neutrino sources o Detector R&D and Design studies  Underground sites and facilities in Europe  Comparison of performances for MH and CP phase with the different approaches o Discussion time: are we able to focus on an optimal project for the coming 10 years? o Short presentations of ApPEC, CERN? 2 nd day:

meeting of the European neutrino community Main structure of the agenda 5  Discussion on status of the neutrino cross section knowledge and theoretical presentation on nu interactions  Status of the hadroproduction knowledge and requirements and Related experimental efforts  Session on dedicated R&D projects and CERN oriented activities  Project status and R&D report from the other regions o Discussion time: 3 rd day: -Need to define the detailed talks (see draft template sent previously as a basis) -Find the speakers for the specific presentations we agree -Leave enough rooms for the talks proposed as contributions not foreseen
