2. Labor is one of the six parties for Australian politics. Julia Gillard is the current prime minister of Australia and is a part of the labor party. Jay Weatherill and Lara Giddings are the current serving premiers for the labor party. Jay Weatherill is premier of South Australia and Lara Giddings is premier of Tasmania. Labor formed in the 1890’s when a group of striking pastoral workers in Queensland had a meeting. There has been eleven elected labor prime ministers including Keven Rudd. It has been the governing party of the Commonwealth of Australia since the 2007 federal government election.

3. Liberal  Liberal is one of the six parties for Australian politics. Tony Abbot is the opposition leader for prime minister and is from the Liberal party.  Barry O’Farrell, Terry Mills, Campbell Newman, Ted Bailliue and Colin Barnett are the current serving premiers for the liberal party. Barry O’Farrell is premier of New South Wales, Terry Mills is premier of Northern Territory, Campbell Newman is the premier for Queensland, Ted Baillieu is premier of Victoria and Colin Barnett is premier of Queensland.  The Liberal Party was formed in 1945 to replace the United Australia Party. Robert Menzies and John Howard are the longest serving liberal prime ministers.
