Animal Facts Description Peacocks are types of birds. Besides the Indian peacock there are Congo peacocks and Green peacocks. Indian peacocks are typically blue, green and gold. Adult peacocks can be 35 to 50 inches tall. Peacocks can weigh as much as 8.75 pounds to 13 pounds. Peacocks have tons of beautiful feathers which are blue, green and gold. Peacock tail feathers can be as wide as 5 feet. Peacock tail feathers are called a train. Diet Peacocks are omnivores. They mainly eat insects, plants, small creatures, worms, nuts and seeds. Movement Peacocks walk and sometimes do a little run to catch up with another peacock. They only live in rain forests, regular forests and wooded areas. 4 Life Cycle Adult peacocks lay about 3 to 5 eggs. It takes 28 days for a baby peacock to hatch. Their parents stay with them until they become adults. They look sort of like Turkey babies or Plouts. Baby peacocks are called peachicks. A picture of the animal as a baby or young. Adult peacocks live in groups called a party, pride or a bevy. Male peacocks have gorgeous colors such as blue, green and gold. Female peacocks are not as bright as the male but still have colors like brown, green and tan. 5 Animal Interactions Indian peacocks protect themselves by flying up a tree and staying there for a couple nights. Peacocks communicate by showing their feathers.
