2 SOURCE #2 Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." King's quote exposes how injustice only leads to greater injustices. In addition, it proves that injustices occur even in small communities. Thus, the injustices that occur in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird are only semi-surprising. This issue is addressed by Harper Lee through three main themes, racial, gender, and societal injustice.

3 SOURCE #3 incalculable (adjective): 1. very numerous or great; 2. beyond calculation; 3. incapable of being predicted

4 SOURCE #5

5 SOURCE #6 As stated by the Southern Poverty Law Center, as of 2012 there were 1,360 known hate groups operating in the United States. This number has increased by 67% and continues to rise as the economy continues to suffer, as more non-white immigrants arrive, and as the white majority diminishes. According to the Anti-Defamation League, “Jews can be blamed at any time for problems in society when political leaders don’t want to Face the difficult realities.” Jews were blamed for the Black Plague, the blood libel, the Holocaust, and even today they are blamed for the 9/11 attacks. In addition, Jews were blamed for war in Iraq, for Terrorists attacking America, for the rise of extremism in the Middle East, for the failure of America to solve the problems, and for stifling open discussion on the issues. This constant blame of Jews throughout history has made this injustice so toxic.
