1. Running a Report v2016

2. Open CAD DSS from the Public Safety Desktop  the BI Query User window will open.  Ensure it is windowed and not full screen so that subsequent screens aren’t hidden (a common problem).

4. Use the “Open” folder icon to open the report.

5.  Select the report you want to run from the R: drive (“CAD-Call Count by Source Type” is shown for demonstration purposes).  Double click the report or select the report and click “Open” to run the report.

6.  Click “OK” to “Refresh the data”  IMPORTANT: if the “Enter Values” dialog box doesn’t pop up, be sure to click on the BI Query User window to bring the [Enter Values] box to the front and in focus).

7.  Change the values and press OK to run the report.  The ‘Enter Values’ dialogue box sometimes comes to the top, but other times it’s between the BI Query User and BI Query Reports windows.

8. The report runs in the BI Query User window first, then populates the BI Query Reports window, depending on how your windows are tiled (overlap). It is very important and helpful that you can see and select both windows during this process.

9.  If you save a report, the value fields typically stay populated with the previously saved criteria.  e.g. beat (can list more than one, but the line will only show you one). Deleting the one visible value will make you think it’s clear when it’s not. Your report will come back wrong or with data you don’t really want.  To completely clear the field, select the first icon with horizontal lines next to the dialogue line to show a dropdown of all entered beats. Delete all from here.  The 2 nd icon with down arrows  [Data Values] allows you to CTRL + select or click and drag down to select multiple values.
