2 Joint Sponsorship Application The first step in the joint sponsorship process is to submit the completed online joint sponsorship application to AANS six-twelve months prior to the date of your meeting. Upon your request, (and if applicable) the previous year’s completed application will be sent to you to use as a reference.

3 Required Application Attachments REQUIRED ATTACHMENTS Please submit with the application. Planning / Educational Needs (Including identified professional practice gap, verification that the educational needs were incorporated into the activity, verification that a physician attribute was used in the educational planning) Draft Agenda Faculty Listing Draft Evaluation Preliminary Budget (include commercial support, speaker honoraria, revenue and expenses) Application Fee

4 Fee Structure The sponsoring organization will pay a $500.00 processing fee for each CME activity submission and review of their application. This fee is non-refundable. Based on the size of your meeting a flat fee will be charged for Jointly Sponsoring your meeting. Please see the break down of the flat fee structure below. This fee includes staff time to provide AANS’ services to accredit your CME activity, but does not include direct expenses such as mailings and evaluation tabulations. These direct expenses will be itemized on your invoice for your review. The fee for jointly sponsoring your meeting is due 60 days post-date of your meeting. $1700 = 100 and under attendees $1900 = 101-300 attendees $2,200 = 301+ attendees

5 Joint Sponsorship Council After your application is reviewed and if approved, the Neurosurgeon contact is automatically added as a member of the AANS Joint Sponsorship Council. The Council meets twice a year either face-to-face or via phone conference to keep you informed of ACCME requirements for your CME activity.

6 Joint Sponsorship Upon review and approval of your joint sponsorship application, the AANS will provide you with Joint Sponsorship Guidelines that indicate all required material to have your activity accredited for CME. You will also be provided with a check list and time line that indicates specified due dates for your required joint sponsorship material.

7 Review of Required Material All material must be approved by the AANS for ACCME requirements prior to printing. Although material is approved and returned as soon as possible, it is recommended to allow at least three - four days for reviewing joint sponsorship material.

8 Accreditation & Designation Statements The AANS will determine the number of CME credits for your activity. The accreditation & designation statement must appear in all promotional material and the program book. Accreditation / Continuing Medical Education This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the AANS and (insert name of non-accredited sponsor). The AANS is accredited by the ACCME to provide Continuing Medical Education for physicians. The AANS designates this educational activity for a maximum of (TBD by AANS staff) AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity

9 Policies and Requirements The ACCME has strict policies and guidelines that we must adhere to for providing accreditation for your CME activity. Please be sure to read over the Joint Sponsorship Guidelines for all requirements and get AANS approval for all documents prior to printing: Documents required with the application Documents required throughout the joint sponsorship process Standards for Commercial Support Faculty Disclosures and Conflict of Interest Forms -Faculty and speakers who refuse to disclose will be disqualified from presenting at the CME activity.

10 Policies and Requirements If at anytime, should the AANS feel there are conditions that could adversely affect the accreditation of AANS CME, joint sponsorship will be denied.
