There are many holidays is Russia: the New Year, Christmas, Victory Day, Easter, the Independence Day, St. Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and others.

The most important holiday in our country for 66 years is Victory Day - the 9 th of May. It is the holiday with tears on eyes. More than 2 000 000 people were killed. The majority of those who came back home were disabled.

Despite huge lost and destruction our army and nation won freedom and independence of our MOTHERLAND in the Great Patriotic War.

One of the warmest holidays is Mother’s day. We celebrate in on the 25 th of November. On this day all the children say their mums how they love them. Though we think that we should say this every day.

We like St. Valentine’s Day. On this day we send postcards and give presents to our friends and family. In school after the lessons our form teacher opens the box with the postcards and gives them to us, but they are usually without signature, so we must guess the author.

The most famous holidays in Russia are the New Year’s Day and Christmas. A lot of legends and magics are connected with them. For example, they are considered to be the best days for fortune-telling.

On this day we decorate the New Year tree, cook tasty dishes. Clean and decorate our home. Before this me go shopping, choose and by gifts for relatives and friends.

In the evening our quests come. We eat, give gifts, listen to the President’s speech and set off fireworks.
