1 “ Technical Skills for Non – Engineers” COE Technical Education and Skill Development Program (Phase I)

2 Nature The College of Engineering (COE) is introducing various job oriented training course modules through its Technical Education and Skill Development Program. These trainings are conducted in collaboration with the different engineering departments and create the requirements of skilled/semi skilled manpower in the concerned field such as construction, electrical, electronics, machining, computer and entrepreneurial.

3 Timeline From previous participants of the Summer School of Life, we started screening of potential of participants; Conducted on site screening of participants two saturdays (October/November 2014) Trained the selected participants as facilitators for the last Summer School of Life last May 2015; Started Training this July 2016 (will run for six months) Tentative set of first graduates – December 2015;

6 To facilitate the training, the following are designated as follows:

7 Additional Information The training program will run for 12 weeks starting July 13, 2015 up to October 3, 2015; The participants upon completion of the training program will also undergo an eight (8) week apprenticeship or hands on training with the following offices in the university: the Plant Facilities Office (PFO) for Electrical, Carpentry, Masonry and Welding while the Information Technology Center (ITC) for the Computer and Hardware Troubling Shooting;

8 Additional Information After completing the whole training program, the participants would be issued certificates; All COE members (chairpersons, faculty members, laboratory coordinators, lab assistants) will be also given certificates that can serve as evidence for community extension, which is needed as evidence during accreditation and promotion;
