2 Agenda for Eagle Support  Today’s Eagle Support is a reminder of the following: 1.STAR360 testing – What is it? Why should I try hard? 2.STAR360 Goal Setting – How do I use this test to help me pass: 1.EOC 2.TSI 3.PSAT/SAT 3. STAR360 procedures 4. STAR360 test log in 2

3 STAR360 Test – what is it?  STAR360 is a Reading and a Math test.  It is a “smart” test. This means as you get questions correct, the test gets harder. As you get questions wrong, the test gets easier.  The questions on the STAR360 test are matched to the questions on the EOC, PSAT, SAT, ACT and TSI. Your score on the STAR360 test tells you how close you are to passing these tests.  Your score on the STAR360 test also tells the school what topics you can study in order to prepare for the EOC, PSAT, SAT, ACT and TSI. 3

4 Tests I have to pass that STAR360 helps me study for  EOC = End of Course. Students must pass the EOC in 9 th grade English, 10 th grade English, Algebra, Biology and History in order to graduate from high school.  PSAT = Pre- Scholastic Aptitude Test. This test is used to determine if you are ready for AP (Advanced Placement) courses or IB (International Baccalaureate) courses. It can also tell you how close you are to passing the SAT test. You take this test your Freshman, Sophomore and Junior year.  SAT = Scholastic Aptitude Test. This test is used by colleges to determine if you qualify to enter that college. You take this test in your junior and senior year.  ACT = American College Test. This test is used by colleges to determine if you qualify to enter that college. You take this test in your junior and senior year.  TSI = Texas Success Initiative. This test is used to qualify you to take Dual Credit Courses and is used for college entrance requirements for any college in the state of Texas. 4

5 STAR360 test…. Why should I try my best? ALL Students: You must pass all of your EOC’s (English, Algebra, Biology, History) in order to graduate. 5 Freshman Beginnng next year: Earn your A.A. from EPCC (2 years community college credit) Earn your IB Diploma (30 University credits) Sophomores Beginning next year Earn your A.A. from EPCC (2 years community college credit) Earn up to 15 University Credit hours from the IB Program. Juniors Beginning next year Earn up to 18 Community college credits Pass the SAT/ACT for early college entrance Seniors This semester: Find out if you are college ready or if you will have to take remedial English or Math courses when you enter. Get a higher ACT or TSI score

6 STAR360 Goal Setting  In order for you use the STAR360 Reading and Math test to help you study to pass these tests, you need to know where you currently stand with your own test scores!  Today’s Goal Setting activity will help you understand some of the tests you need to pass and the scores you should strive to receive.  After you take the STAR360 test, you will review your START360 test with your teacher to understand how to study better for these tests. 6

8 Log into CCRP  To understand what tests you need to pass, you need to log into your CCRP.  The next few slides will assist you in logging into CCRP and getting to the right tab to view your scores. 8

10 Step 2  Students use ID Number for Username and DOB starting with the year as password (ex. ID: 25347 date of birth: 19931112 1993 year, 11 month, 13 day 10

11 Step 3  Choose AUDIT Card 11

12 Step 4  Under the Print Tab, choose SCORES 12

13 Step 5 (9 th grade students)  Go to STAAR 3 - 8 13

14 9 th grade : Correct Score Page View 14

15 9 th grade: Scores to consider  Look at your 8 th grade scores.  You will need the Test, Scale Score, and Level 15 Test name Scale Score Level

16 Step 5 (10 th - 12 th grade students)  Go to STAAR EOC 16

17 10 th – 12 th grade: Correct Score Page View 17

18 10 th – 12 th grade: Scores to consider  Look at your 8 th grade scores.  You will need the Test, Scale Score, and Level 18 Level Test name Scale Score

19 Goal Setting Activity:  Using the information from your CCRP, answer the questions in Schoology  When you are finished, your teacher will continue the power point and goal setting activity with you. 19

20 Review after Schoology complete  Now you will review with your teacher the scores on the EOC and what they mean for College Readiness 20

23 College Readiness and STAR360  You will take the STAR360 READING test tomorrow. You will take the Math test next Tuesday.  Please bring your laptops for each test!  You will need your laptop for the test.  Try your best!!!  This test will help you pass the EOC and also help you pass the TSI (needed t enter Dual Credit and International Baccalaureate courses) and the PSAT/ SAT/ ACT! 23

24 TESTING PROCEDDURES (use the following slides on testing day)  The following slides are for teachers to use to assist in beginning the STAR360 test.  These slides (and the attachments) MUST be shown to students. 24

25 STAR 360 LOGIN  There is a login on the desktop of the students laptop when turned on.  If students are missing the ICON on their desktop, please use this link https://hosted378.renlearn.com/244065/https://hosted378.renlearn.com/244065/  The testing environment is secure. Students must be silent during all testing. They may read or do homework silently when finished  If a student forgot their laptop, they may log in on another student’s laptop when that student finishes. 25
