7 School Games Kitemark Criteria: Self Assessment Bronze: Assess yourself and your head validates and signs it off Silver and Gold: Complete application, it will get sent to us and we will validate and approve it.

9 School Games Kitemark The Kitemark will be valid for the 2012/2013 academic year. Once the application has been approved you will be able to use the School Games Kitemark logo and download a certificate

11 Achievement 1 Tennis Ball Characteristics 1.Throw the tennis ball from an underarm position against the wall. Try to catch the ball after one bounce – Standard shot. Complete 5 2.Throw the ball from an underarm position against the wall. Try to catch the ball without it bouncing – Volley shot. Complete 5

12 Achievement 2 Ball and Racquet Interaction Try and bounce the ball on the racquet without the ball hitting the floor. Try to keep the ball under control at all times. Try to keep the ball close and in the centre of the racquet. Complete 5 without the ball hitting the floor

13 Achievement 3 Striking the Ball 1.Allow the ball to bounce once before hitting the ball against the wall. On return allow the ball to bounce once before repeating. Use both faces of the racquet – Standard forehand and backhand shot. Complete 5 using a mixture of forehand and backhand shots 2.Repeat the above but do not allow the ball to bounce on return from the wall – Forehand and backhand volley. Complete 5 using a mixture of forehand and backhand volleys

14 Achievement 4 Practice - Rally With a partner practice hitting the ball to one another with a mixture of the following: Standard shotVolley shotForehandBackhand Complete a rally of 14 strokes using all of the above types of shot *If you have access to a net you may wish to introduce this*
